About Me

/img/dale.jpg

I am a Principal Software Engineer and Team Lead with over two decades of experience building and delivering software.

Over the years, I’ve worked on just about everything from big data distributed systems and large retail stock-take platforms, to Linux and Windows kernel drivers and code running on micro-controllers.

While the majority of my day-to-day skills are in C# and .NET, I’m strictly tech-stack agnostic. I’ve always believed in using whichever tool, language, or platform the project actually requires to get the job done right.

I’ve run my own company, managed development teams, and successfully delivered over 20 major systems. I’m also equally at home with a soldering iron and oscilloscope hacking hardware, and I regularly speak at conferences like DevConf and BSides Cape Town - usually exploring the fun, absurdly over-engineered side of technology, hardware, and software (often with a ridiculous amount of rubber-ducks).

Ultimately, I describe myself as a jack of all trades, serial skill collector, high-functioning hoarder, and distributor of duck-paraphernalia.
